Samasati Nature Retreat is located 130 miles South of San José, the
capital of Costa Rica, and 30 miles South of Puerto Limón on the Caribbean
coast. Samasati is an exquisite retreat facility situated on 250 acres of virgin
tropical rainforest overlooking the Caribbean Sea in the marvelous country of
Costa Rica. The artful balance achieved within its environment makes Samasati
Nature Retreat an ideal destination for nature lovers, group activities, or
the individual, to experience physical, psychological and spiritual renewal.
Getting to Samasati is easy and the drive is beautiful. The road is safe, paved
and the sightseeing breathtaking. You will cross the Braulio Carrillo National
Park- the largest virgin, protected area in Costa Rica- the Santa Clara flatlands,
where most of the country crops are grown. Than the road unwinds along the beach,
in the middle of coconut groves and sweet water canals.
Right after Cahuita National Park, four miles before the village of Puerto
Viejo, you will find a large sign " Samasati Nature Retreat" that
will direct you to a side road.
Samasati's entrance gate and reception area is about 800 meters from the main
road. From the reception, we will transport you with our 4x4 vehicles up the
hill to Samasati's restaurant and accommodations.
Nine Caribbean style Bungalows are nestled into lovely tropical gardens. Built

are available to rent on a monthly basis.
Namaste House is located between two huge Javillo trees. It is 250 meters from
the restaurant. Three floors, each with bathroom (hot water) and veranda, provide
four bedrooms with king or queen size beds. A fully equipped kitchen, dining
room, and living room, are on the ground floor.

you may have regarding group space or supplies and equipment. Since neighboring

require privacy.
Samasati's water system is supplied by fresh springs on the property. Please
note that our ecologically sound gray disposal system requires the use of environmental

display of the best Costa Rican food... rice, beans, fresh salads, and all kinds
of local organic roots and plantains, baked, fried or mashed. The evening dinner
is a real treat, always special at Samasati Restaurant. Soup, rice, barley,
or homemade pasta, an international main course (French quiche, Indian palak
paneer, Italian lasagna or eggplant Parmesan, vegetarian burgers and more!),
sauteed or baked vegetables, and wonderful desserts!

SAMASATI BIOLOGICAL RESERVE
Samati's virgin rainforest harbors thousands of known life forms and thousands
yet to be described. Resonating with the songs of birds and the screams of the
howler monkeys at dawn, the rain forest is quiet in the heat of the day, its
stillness puncuated by the insect-like call of poison dart frogs, the rasping
of cicadas or the whistled notes of wrens and antbirds. The dark, cool interior
of the primary forest is surprisingly free of entangling vegetation. Only where
light manages to filter through the interlocking canopy to the forest floor
does vegetation proliferate. Walking into the rain forest is like taking a step
back in time. The modern world and all its stresses fade into insignificance.
